The Polygon Toolbox was designed for the purpose of turning hexagons, octagons, squares, and irregular shapes quickly and free from burrs. These operations can be performed
on the end or behind the shoulder of a workpiece. This tool eliminates the necessity for subsequent milling operations. Boxes have been developed to suit most types of screw machines.
Slater Tools offers cross-slide or end-slide mounting units driven by a pick off gear for 1:1 synchronized spindle rotation. Unlike any other shape generating system, the Slater Tools attachments utilize a standard single point tool, which machines the desired contour on the outside diameter of the work. The cam, housed in the attachment, rotating at the same rpm as the work spindle, drives the cutting tool in a predetermined pattern. Changes in the contour on the work are accomplished by installing the required cam to guide the tool.
Quality parts per hour, operation time and cost savings were all taken into consideration during research and development of the product. Users of these tools are producing high volume quality parts while reducing costs as compared to conventional methods. This attachment allows heavier cuts and gives better cycle time, and above all, eliminates secondary milling operations.
